The Purchasing Department issues purchase prders for supplies, services, equipment, and raw materials in consideration to price, quality, availability, reliability, and technical support.
The Purchasing Department’s functions may be described as a service function and control function. The service function involves assisting other departments in obtaining the highest quality of services and supplies for the best price during the bid and construction process. The control function ensures the company is complying with the contract specifications for material, equipment, and services provided.
In addition, the Purchasing Department is responsible for ensuring that the Owners specifications and contract terms and conditions are clearly communicated to provide effective subcontract administration for Project Managers and to keep records of vendor performance.
